| Keys | The U.S. Department of Transportation requires that customers should provide one set of keys for the vehicle, including the ignition, trunk, and glove box. |
| Antennas | All antennas including temporary ones should all be removed or lowered if possible. |
| Car Wash | We ask that all customers provide a clean vehicle. This allows the carrier to do a quick and fair evaluation of the vehicle’s condition prior to shipment. |
| Alarms | Be sure to turn off all alarms for transport. If the vehicle requires special instructions to start, please inform the FHT Auto Transport personnel. Our company is not responsible for any drained batteries or other mechanical problems resulting from an active alarm. |
| Racks | All racks that are not permanently attached to the car should be removed. |
| Cracked Glass | FHT Auto Transport will not be responsible for any pre-existing nicks, scratches, chips, cracks, or other imperfections. |
| Climate | Customers need to prepare their vehicles for all climates. All fluids must be checked and filled. FHT Auto Transport is not responsible for any damage caused by Acts of Nature. |
| Spoiler | Spoilers, fairing, air dams or other low hanging and loose items should be removed. If not removed all, FHT Auto Transport will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items. |
| Personal Items | As of 1998 the Department of Transportation ruled that you may NOT load any items in a vehicle on auto carriers. All trucks are occasionally subject to inspection. The inspection involves unloading the vehicles off the truck and removing any items found in the vehicle (other than those items in a new car upon purchase, i.e. auto manuals, tire changing equipment, etc.). Consequently, there is the risk of items being left behind at the inspection site. Auto carriers are NOT licensed to carry household goods or personal items; these goods and items are not covered by the carrier’s insurance. Personal belongings left in the vehicle are shipped strictly at the owner’s risk. Carriers will not inventory any belongings left in the vehicle. Carriers will not bear responsibility for any damage to your vehicle due to household goods shifting or breaking. Items packed in the vehicle add weight and may case damage to the exhaust system or suspension of the vehicle. |
| Pickup/Delivery Locations | Make sure the locations for pickup and delivery are truck accessible. Most trucks are 75 to 80 feet long with low ground clearance and a wide turning radius. This can be problem getting into residential areas due to narrow roads, over hanging trees and power lines, low bridges, city ordinances, and other road factors. The driver will attempt to get as closer as he or she can to your location. Otherwise, a convenient alternate location like a shopping center or a large parking area will be agreed upon as the pick up or delivery location. |
